NEW NEWS ■ Smoking activities in the city of Bandung can no longer be just anywhere. This is inseparable from the completion of the discussion on the draft Regional Regulation on No Smoking Areas (KTR).

In addition to the Raperda KTR, the City Government together with the Bandung City DPRD also completed discussions on the Raperda on the Prevention and Raperda on the Eradication of Abuse and Illicit Narcotics and Narcotics Precursor (P4GNPN).

Based on a DPRD Decree, the Raperda on KTR is discussed by the Special Committee (Pansus) 9, while the Raperda on P4GNPN is the discussion for Pansus 11. The two Raperda are stipulated as Perda.

This was revealed in the Plenary Meeting of the Bandung City DPRD regarding Decision Making on the Bandung City Raperda on KTR and P4GNPN in the Plenary Meeting Room of the Bandung City DPRD, on Friday, April 30, 2021.

At the plenary meeting, the Mayor of Bandung, Oded M. Danial, conveyed that the two Raperda came from 2020 City sheets 10 and 12. He also thanked him for the discussion that had been carried out.

"We would like to express our gratitude and give appreciation to the leadership and all honorable members of the Council for carrying out joint discussions on the two Raperda which today received mutual approval," he said.

According to Oded, the Bandung City Raperda on KTR aims to provide protection against passive smokers or people who do not smoke due to cigarette smoke.

"It does not prohibit everyone from smoking, but provides a limit or space in which each person can smoke," he said.

"InshaAllah, it is very proportional, it does not prohibit those who still cannot stop smoking, but we also protect people who become passive smokers," he continued.

Meanwhile, the Bandung City Raperda regarding P4GNPN, Oded revealed, drugs are a leading and dangerous threat to our generation. As well as jointly fighting drugs so that the problem can be controlled.

"Therefore, I hope that the existence of the Raperda or Perda that we will agree on can help to keep, especially the younger generation in the future, not trapped," he said.

"Let's collaborate together between the executive and legislative branches. I will also convey this Perda to leaders, especially religious leaders, to socialize this regional regulation later with perhaps its derivatives," he continued.
